Profile

Shikha Jain is a doctorate in architecture with specialisation in preservation and community design. She heads the organization DRONAH (Development and Research Organisation for Nature, Arts and Heritage), India and is Founder Trustee of the IHCN-F (Indian Heritage Cities Network Foundation). Her experience in cultural heritage ranges from steering conservation projects for various state governments in India to preparing conservation plans funded by the Getty Foundation, World Monuments Fund and Nomination Dossiers and Management Plans for World Heritage Sites in India. As a consultant to UNESCO, New Delhi she has worked on the Cultural Heritage Toolkit for the Ministry of Urban Development.

 

She is Chief Editor of the journal ‘Context: Built, Living and Natural’ and has several published books and articles on cultural heritage of India to her credit. She is Visiting Faculty for Urban Conservation in the Department of Urban Planning, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. She is also the State Convener of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, (INTACH) Haryana Chapter and coordinator for the National Scientific Committee ICOFORT for ICOMOS India. She has been part of several Technical Committees on Heritage Conservation Projects for State and Central Government organizations in India. Since 2011, she is also the Member Secretary, Advisory Committee on World Heritage Matters (ACWHM) under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, India.
