The charming, soft spoken actor Salil Acharya is no stranger to the street. He started his carrier from TV soap operas like Kasturi , Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Ye Meri Life Hai. Regular soap lovers can easily recognize this face!
Moreover after a while of working with the TV producers, the actor jumped into the Hindi Cinema. You can catch a glimpse of him in the movies like Aawarapan and Aashiqui 2. Also, he has hosted many popular shows for Indo-Asia network B4U as a VJ. He can be seen hosting a variety of shows on B4U Music and is the Breakfast Radio Jockey for Radio city 91.1. His shows include “Kasa Kai Mumbai” which is rated the number one radio show of Mumbai in its segment. Lately, he was also seen hosting a popular reality show, “Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ticket” on 9XM.
A rendezvous with actor Salil Acharya is really an honour for the Zingy homes team. His dream house is completely the mirror of his pragmatic personality.
As one enters your house, what’s the best thing one can notice according to you?
Well, when people enter my house, they say it reminds them of a spa because it’s so peaceful; the vibe is great; it’s very breezy, so it gives a completely feel of good house…
Who all stay in your house? How do you maintain it?
I am the king of my house but along with me I have two servants and my two baby dogs who are my life..
How many rooms are there in your house? Since when are you staying here? Also why you did chose to stay here?
I have a four bedroom house. I have been staying here for four years now. This place was of my choice because it was huge and I could do lots with it. I don’t like staying in rat holes.
What's your preferred decor style and color choices?
I prefer white and minimalistic spaces.
Any particular theme in your house which you have followed while decorating it?
Well, it’s all white with few hints of color in the furniture….
What are the colors you have played with on the walls?
The walls and the furniture are white with mood lighting all over.
Can you describe your taste in furniture, paintings, decorative and where are these are picked up from?
Well, most of the furniture has been made to order. Some were from Bali and some from the books…. (Laughs).
Your most cherished piece of painting or home decor item? Where did you pick it up from and why is it so special?
I have very few paintings. I like to keep the walls clean.
Besides, what are the extraordinary pieces in the house and where are these purchased from?
Bali Furniture is quite extraordinary and of course these have been purchased from Bali, Indonesia.
Your favorite possession would be?
My house completely – I absolutely love my pad….feeling happy
Your Favorite corner in the house would be?
I love my study table which has my favorite books and a few pictures of mine in front of it.
Your favorite room in the house would be?
I love my Bedroom.
Can you describe your bedroom for our readers?
Well, it’s an enormous one as I wanted it to be- with a big bed, a big TV and a huge window looking out into the marshlands. So I have a lovely scenic view of the rains and the greener part of Mumbai…
Can you describe the other rooms or decor in your house?
I have a huge and much spacious living room with a bar. The room has a capacity of about 50 people for the party. Even in the Master Bedroom we have a lots of corners to sit. My study room is a quiet corner. Also, the guest bedrooms have their own space and windows with the same scenic view.
Talking about washrooms I have huge one with elaborate showers. I also have a steam room so that I can de-stress after a swim and a workout.
Then I have a huge verandah with lots of planters in there and the kitchen is a converted one- It was a room earlier so my house maid has lots of freedom to do whatever she wants.
Does the decor reflect the personality of those living within?
Yes absolutely. I like tasteful things. I love my space and I like to keep it minimal.
How often do you revamp your interiors?
Don't want to do this again... it should be 'all do once' sort of thing.
Did you hire a pro? If not, was there any thought process involved in the decor?
Yes, lots of references, lots of experiments and lots of inputs from near and dear ones and yes- lots of help from my bank account which is empty now. (laughs)
And lastly, what's the message you would like to share with other homeowners?
It takes patience, time and obviously money to decorate a home so be ready for the battle royal- most importantly read a lot because you could get the raw end of the deal with your architects and contractors but you need to know everything and finally get it done in a way that it stays that way forever.
