The most valuable quotes from Bhagavad Gita-inspiration for an architectBy Vishal Kumar

“Karmanyeva-adhikaraste ma phalesu kadachana||”
Be active, never be inactive and don’t react to outcome of the work.
Gita is said to be the life changing book but in this busy life we don’t have time to spend on reading. So for the sake of every hard worker out there I bring some chosen purports from the magical book of Bhagavad Gita. Try to bring the change.
Be calm at actions- be free from the expectation of the outcome.
Sometimes we end up doing a lot less than we can do & then realise the need of the situation and sometimes a lot a hard work. For example eating more or too less, is not going to give the desired results. You need to be very specific, clear and straight forward so as to achieve the best. The outcomes sometimes can be tough to digest but work for the betterment not for the consequences. Work with your own rules, be unique. When a person is less or not affected by the potential of success or failure, he put the best of his show on the canvas. Lord Krishna in Gita describes that it is indeed impossible for an embodied being to give up all activities. But he who renounces the fruits of action is called one who has truly renounced.
Desire less- be focused, be the master of your mind.
Drive your mind don’t let it drive you. All thoughts, desires and feeling, good or bad take birth in your head. Looking deep into your mind is not possible if your mind is not braced. The mind can be more productive if you keep the useless thought away and channelize your energy toward the work. Heart, body, mind and soul these are the four fundamentals of human and the one possessing the power to control the other three is the mind.
Understand the utter truth- the permanent and the temporary.
Many a times we indulge ourselves in things which give us happiness and sometimes fame but as time passes everything fades. Bhagavad Gita states that body is temporary but the soul remains immortal. Taking the thought to architecture, where the material, the structure the outer beauty of a building is the body but the inner part the soul is the form and the function. An architect not only works for the ornamentation of the building but works so as to achieve a form which is unique and all encompassing. The very famous architect Winston Churchill once said “we shape our buildings, thereafter they shape us.” If the soul of a building is the form function and build-up of it then the soul of an architect lies in the building itself which make the architect immortal.
Be productive and original.
Bhagavad Gita karma yoga text 7 states that originality is a must to survive in the world. The one who boasts of his fake ability is a pretender. A sincere sweeper on the street is far better than the charlatan meditator who meditates only for the sake of making a living. It’s true that we work for living but giving up the originality and working only for the sake of oneself is wrong and must not be practised. A coping up with each situation while keeping the honesty innate is the key to success in this profession.
Wisdom becomes unprocurable due to selfish attitude- Be open and expressive.
Just as a mirror covered by dust does not reflect images of objects, wisdom, too, gets obscured by selfish attitude. Opening up makes it easy to gain more knowledge. Selfishness is thing for the dull and impotent, a great person thinks while keeping everyone in mind, and has no fear of failing. Being an architect, it’s important to understand your authority & the responsibilities attached, ask questions, open up conversations, come out and feel the world to make it a better place.
Be equal to all, being an architect it’s your duty to serve each one equally.
The 12 chapter text 18-19 tells us to be equal and just to all. After a doctor it’s an architect who swears to serve his/her best to the society and each people in the society. An architect spends day and night working on projects and these projects and designs when built in the reality not only affect the clients but also each being related to one another whether directly or indirectly. An Architect should treat everyone equally, he should be equipoised in honour and dishonour, heat and cold, happiness and distress, fame and infamy. He should be free from false association or fouled relations.
An Architect should also be a keen listener and one who seeks knowledge.
Failure is the first step to success, never stop- give your best.
Nowadays the suicides by young people are a very big threat for the nation. People are forced to end up their life because of pressure, false ego, tension and incomplete knowledge. Every year many students try to make it to the big exams some succeed and some fail many a times this failure results into death. But failure need to be understood, we fail only because we try and a failure is not the end of the world. Each failure brings some new opportunities and a new path to success. After the invention of bulb Sir Thomas Edison was asked by a journalist that if it’s true that he failed a thousand times before inventing the bulb, Edison said, “No, I didn’t. I know a thousand ways by which you cannot illuminate a bulb.” So it’s the attitude which decides whether you fail or not!
The Gita can be seen as the main literary support for the great religious civilisation in India, the oldest surviving culture in the world. Gita is translated in hundreds of languages worldwide because it holds the secrets by which anyone can enjoy life with more ease and peace. Here I presented you the nectar of the holy book.
