‘Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success’ - Henry Ford.
Chennai 3rd August’2015: ET Edge, an Economic Times initiative organised the South leg of the 3rd edition of The Economic Times Architecture & Design Summit 2015 on 31st July at Hotel Radisson Blu in Chennai.
With a view towards achieving transformation in India’s evolving skyline, the Summit acted as an important platform in bringing together leaders and influencers of the architecture and design community to map the infrastructure initiatives to be taken for the same. The theme ‘Transformation 2020’ accordingly had concrete topics viz. ‘Role of the states in aligning Architecture with India's transformation agenda’; Trends in Architect Design: Residential & Commercial and so on.
Among the seamless interactions and break-through discussions at the Summit, ideal practices for developing India’s urban infrastructure were deliberated where Mr. Oscar Concessao, Partner, Oscar & Ponni Architects said, “As architects we have been given a vision by The PM – Smart Vision & AMRUT. Due to the urbanization happening in India it is our duty to collaborate all the stakeholders involved in taking this vision to reality”.
As the Summit was committed towards celebrating and developing architecture, the intention of providing a rare opportunity to learn from and get inspired by leaders of the architecture community brought together industry stakeholders like architectural practioners, contractors, developers, policy makers and engineers to congregate and explore the potential the region has to offer.

Shreekant Somany, CMD, Somany Ceramics said, “We need to have greener areas in cities as pre – requisites better roads and waste management. We also need to look at sewage bifurcation system and use them separately.”
The involvement and the urge towards transforming India made this event a successful one.
