Funky Interiors and Facilities @ Facebook's Newly Opened Mumbai OfficeBy Krishna S. Gohil
Office Design & Decor Tweet 0 Comment(s)
We all know how addictive Facebooking has been for us, but have you ever thought that even working at Facebook could be equally addictive? Well, you will start feeling so, once you read on.
Facebook is one of those companies that associates itself to the youth and has always been creative and eccentric in everything it does. Its offices are no different. May they be in any part of the world, Facebook has always made an effort to make its offices work as a stimulator for its employees to put in their 200% And, they have not left their brand new Mumbai office any behind. Here is how:
Connecting with the local culture:
Be it the walls, ceilings or the phraseology of the place, it all shouts to just one thing – Mumbaikar. You can see the effort and time the interior designers have spent in thinking over the best words that would not only put a smile on the employee’s face but also make her work harder. From bean bags to a cute open-roof auto rickshaw, every furniture seems to be hand picked to perfection. Even the simple style of using Hindi alphabets over English, for the words hanging from the ceiling, adds the much-needed desi touch, to which we Indians connect heartily.
From the color choice to the seating arrangement, each and every furniture just emphasizes on energy, enthusiasm and liveliness. These give a high-spirited ambience to the office, at the same time contributing to the vibrance of the ongoing bustle. The freshness of it all would even make a scolding by their boss seem short-lived.
Instead of huge paintings that usually adorn the walls of big companies, Facebook has gone off track and rather made the walls a painting. The images are a selection of retro yet stylish objects, painted intricately with splashes of bright lively colors. They accentuate the overall design and play a pivotal part in defining the fun at Facebook.
People always emphasize on speak your mind and say what you feel, but Facebook actually implements it. One of the fancy parts forming the interiors is The Facebook Wall. Employees can write down anything and everything here. From song lyrics to strategy layouts, if it is on your mind, it is on the wall.
Joy on the Job:
If you thought that design was all that was taken into consideration then, let me correct you. Facebook’s Mumbai office boasts of in-house Sports facilities. What better than discussing client acquisition over a game of snooker? Or discussing the marketing strategy while playing Table Tennis? Facebook has pretty much made sure that joy of the job, is on the job.
Task and Treat:
The office has an in-house salon. Any time Facebook has an office party, its employees can easily flaunt the best hairstyles even after a tiring day of work. All they have to do is – walk to the room beside. Keeping such minute needs of the employees in mind and attending to them speaks volumes of how much Facebook values its employees.
Playing with the palate:
With all the interiors and facilities being discussed, how can we forget the most important - food! Needless to say that too has been well taken care of. The Mumbai Office boasts of an in-house kitchenette where the staff can devour the very best of entrees to desserts. Could totally term it as - Playing with the senses.
Having shown it all, it seems Facebook has made sure that its people come to office early and go late. Not only that, knowing the space crunch issue in Mumbai, it would not be surprising to know that the Mumbaikars working at the new BKC office prefer their office over homes.
And yes, It looks obvious that Facebook has been quite successful in romanticizing with its staff by pleasing most of their senses - visual, tactile and taste. Such an effort, shall not only help make it enjoyable for its employees to finish their 9 to 5 duty but also make it extremely difficult for them to switch from Facebook, as such perks are hard to find.
