If you wake up every morning to see nothing but monotonous walls-either blank or donned with old paintings that have lost their charm over all these years, this means that the time has come for redecoration. You may go for re-painting, but that’s not always a viable option considering the flip-flop economy and mental stress. But that doesn’t mean you have to live with your existing walls either. You can decorate the walls in fun and inexpensive way.

Don’t believe us? Look for yourself. All you need are time, creativity and a heart full of enthusiasm!

Here are five paper wall art designs to spruce up your home:

Drawing/Living Room: Let’s start with the place where your family spends most of the time. Most people have paintings of Gods on the walls which is clichéd. How about putting up some contemporary paper wall art?

Make some paper flowers or if you know origami, then origami flowers. Use colourful papers for it. Stick flowers on a thick paper. Frame the paper.

Or punch (large ones) different coloured chart papers/old greeting cards etc. Now stick those punched circles on a white sheet of paper. It’s easy and cheap but looks wonderful.

Master Bedroom: It’s your room, your space. Hence, the wall art should be able to scream that message. Buy a few 12x12-inch canvases and cover them with newspaper/magazine articles, gift wrapping papers, etc. Stick the paper with hot glue or double sided tape and hang the canvases on the wall.

Dining Room: It’s an important place because nothing is purer and sacred than food. Buy a few canvases and fruits/vegetables prints or fact sheets. They are readily available in any stationery shop. Stick the fact sheets as it is on the canvas or cut out each fruit and vegetable before sticking them. Write down the benefits of each of them. It’s an interesting way for your kids to learn to love food.

Kids’ Bedroom: This place should exhibit the cheerfulness and exuberance of the little ones staying in it.

Take different colours on a plate. Ask your kids to dip their hands in the colours and take their hand impression on a large paper. Frame it and hang it on the wall.

One of my friends had put up a frame of her newborn’s hands and feet impressions in the nursery. Isn’t this an innovative idea?

Kitchen: Last but not the least; give some time to the kitchen- your safe heaven. Fruits and veggies paper art concept can be applied to the kitchen as well .However, besides this, you can also take some real vegetables and fruits and say oranges, lemons, okra and bell peppers. Cut them crosswise into halves. Okra and bell peppers make beautiful flowers.

Cauliflower, broccoli – separate into florets; they make excellent trees

Chinese cabbage – cut off the base; it makes roses

Now put different colours on a plate. Dip these fruits and vegetables and stamp them on paper to make beautiful prints.

Isn’t it a perfect piece for your kitchen?
