Children and adults alike, birthdays are the times when everyone feels special and wants to be pampered by their loved ones. While lavish and theme based birthday celebrations have been trending lately on the party circuits, not all of us may fancy a grandiose affair. And who says you need to spend truck loads of money to ring in the good times and best wishes for the birthday boy or gal? With some simple and fun decorating ideas, you can convert your cozy home nest into the most happening and cool birthday jamboree without crashing your savings or the spirit of the occasion.

Balloons – here, there and every where

A birthday do without balloons? Nah. Blue, pink, yellow, red – grab them in all colours, shapes and sizes and put your thinking caps on. You can hang them up or down from the ceiling; tie them with chairs, tables, fans, or curtain roads; string them together to form a garland; stick them to walls in striking patterns or simply disperse them on the floor. Get creative and use swirls or ribbons along to add a touch of vibrancy to the balloon décor. Let your young as well as old guests go balloontastic!

Glitter it with candles

If you are hosting an evening birthday party, then you can save on artificial lighting by creating a beautiful sparkling effect through glittery candles. You can take either pillar candles or tea lights, coat them in myriad hues of glitters and place them around your room to see the magic light flicker its way slowly into the party ambience. If you have time, then you can decorate these candles with beads, rhinestones and other embellishments.

Prettify with food and food accessories

Have you ever fallen in love with edible food crafts? Whether yes or no, you can still take your birthday décor ideas from there and skip ordering exotic and fancy buffet from your caterer. All you require is to browse through internet or borrow food décor books from your library for inspiration and then serve your menu in attractive serving trays, concoctions or aisles. You can even request your friend or neighbour to lend his or her cutlery set to you (but of course, in lieu of a promise to return it in its original condition!). If it’s a kid’s birthday party, you can think about serving the food in disposable paper plates, napkins and cups with animated character prints such as Mickey Mouse, Doremon, Disney Princess etc. Kids would simple love them!

Time for your printer to show its worth

Hit the web and you will discover a mine of amazing printable party decorations that can be used as wall décor, banners, toppers, placemats, party hats, napkin rings, gift tags etc. That too, without spending a single penny! Could anything get cheaper and more wonderful than this?

Celebrate in the company of nature

Pick up some gorgeous flowers from your home garden or a bouquet shop and arrange them in transparent jars or ornamental patterns inside your house. And better still; throw under the sun or a moonlight birthday party in your outdoors, depending on the weather. Just imagine – fresh flowers, lush green plants, sunny sky (or a starry night) and your near and dear ones with you. Do you really extra artificial party pops amidst such natural decor? If there are kids around, then you can simply bring your table settings outdoors and decorate it with balloons and swirls. A surefire way to cheer up the little party hoppers!
