They say that the beauty of a landscape is appreciated not only by tangible factors but also by what remains abstract- something that is latent yet can be perceived strongly and thus becomes a major assessment determinant.

The location, the climate, the vegetation, the theme, the exposure to light, the scents and the sounds surrounding a landscape enliven the lifeless space. These elements empower the subconscious mind to uncover the innermost layer and see what is unseen. It all lies in the power of senses.

Now, without going into unnecessary details, we bring you the highlights of the most awaited competition by Landscape Foundation. The seen-unseen competition is in association with IIA, Trivandrum Center and is supported by Rain and Bird. The Jury Panel comprises Aditya Advani Landscape Architect, New Delhi, Kaiwan Mehta, Managing Editor, Domus India and Sriganesh Rajendran, Landscape Architect, Bengaluru.

And if you were wondering what the theme may be, hey there, you need to refurbish your design ideas here.

The Theme

You may think of a random physical backdrop which you think has the potential of being perceived despite being abstract and thus in a way highlights the thought of seeing the unseen. Communicate the unique sense of experience and  a sense of place that it creates. There you are all-set!

The site may be an ongoing design studio or a live project that matches the seen-unseen criteria It’s idea that matters and out-of-the-box approaches with a keen sense of design will be encouraged.
