Rustic style is the suddenly the talk of the town. Everyone is fascinated by this concept of decorating despite their knowledge being limited. Rustic décor connects us with our roots. It gives a connect to our past which every one of us crave for. It’s neither extravagant nor is it simple. Instead it displays bold statements. It is brutally honest and extremely real.
Extensive use of wood:- The backbone of this décor is wood. The prevalence of wood in this style of décor is overwhelming. It’s the most predominantly used material . However different types of wood are used, in order to break the monotony.
Dominance of Brown:- Due to the extensive use of wood , brown is the most prominent color in this décor. Although different shades and tints of the color are used , the base remains the same. Brown gives a very natural look to the house, and thus makes you feel rooted.
Recycle and Re-use:- Rustic décor is not bright and shiny, instead it’s old and weathered. So, using objects that are worn out such as baskets will add to the charm.
Wrap it up with Twine:- Twine and rope are predominantly used in this décor. Baskets, lanterns, even as covers for door handles to give them a rustic feel!
Earthy colors:- Brown is not the only color that is used, colors such as green , bright red and turquoise blue can be used as accents which add to the charm . They also give the brown color a different look altogether.
Textured:- An important aspect of Rustic décor is the clever usage of many textures. Wood itself is responsible for the varied textures. Rugs of different materials are used to give the rough look. To depict a cozy ambience , even velvet can be used.
Reviving folk art:- Folk art can be used in the interiors to add the aspect of tradition. Folk art is not only vintage in origin but is rooted in its approach.
