Choosing the right countertop for your kitchen can be a little overwhelming, given the end number of choices that are available in the market. Gone are the days when you were considered lucky if you could have some faded laminate as a small preparation area beside your sink. Its hardness is second to diamond only. But it can absorb stains if not sealed periodically. 

Solid Surfaces:


These surfaces are either made of 100% acrylic or 100% polyester. It can also be a combination of both. The best part of this countertop is that one can sand out any scratch very easily. One of its best traits is that the design possibilities are limitless. If you want to go all over design, this countertop is for you. However it is vulnerable to hot objects, which can damage the surface. And also it can get stained too. 

Ceramic Tiles:


Made of plastic-coated synthetics, it is extremely durable and can survive even the toughest kitchen. Easy to clean it is cut to fit the size. Available in plenty of colors, it is inexpensive too. However the bad part of these counterparts is that, chips and scratches are almost impossible to mend



Though it has lost its previous prominence as a countertop over granite and steel, yet it still remains in the favorite list. It is extremely easy to clean and gives a very warm look to the kitchen. It can be sanded and sealed whenever needed without much hassle. However its greatest defect lies on the fact that it can be damaged by water and gets stained over time.

Stainless Steel Counters:


If you want a real contemporary look go for it. It is specially for professional chefs because it is non-staining, easy to clean and most importantly heat resistant which is the greatest plus point when you are cooking. However it is an expensive countertop and may dent. It is noisy too, you cannot cut on it and also fabrication on it is really expensive.
