Study Room Decor - Tips and IdeasBy Smitha Jose

Studying is no child's play - a whole lot of focus and patience is required to have a good study at home as well as at school/college. Some go for a separate study area and others try to fit them in their bedrooms. Study rooms are something we all need - for all age groups. Whether you have tiny tots taking their first steps to Kinter garden, ambitious school goers, energetic college-going youngsters or office goers - a space where you can be your own.
Following are some tips and designs you can peek through that will guide you while planning for a study.
1. For the chirpy tots:
Kids are other name for liveliness. This vibrant, energetic bunch of species always inspire us to remain active in this tiring world.
They always like to live in a world of bright, cheerful colours, share their room with their favourite cartoon characters and sleep in their fantasy filled night suits and bed linens.
Their bedroom which serves both as a bedroom and study should hence be filled with colours. Always make sure that you take their opinions into account before setting their rooms because kids are quite updated with the latest trends for them nowadays.
The ambience they need is totally different from what we, adults would look for. For them, the sophisticated tables and chairs are a big 'no no'.Instead simple chairs and tables, funny looking cupboards are what make them happy.
The room shown above is a perfect example. Even though the colour palette used here is confined, the colours are so meticulously chosen that together they brighten up the room while the generous use of white keeps the darkness away.
2. For the ambitious high school students:
Now that your kids have grown up, you cannot keep it playful anymore. Their days are spent in schools, straining hard their brains to grasp the topics taught and the nights pass in making projects, presentations and assignments. Therefore, the study should be well organised and at the same should never look dull or mundane.
One great idea to make the room look interesting and keep the kids motivated throughout is to do the walls. Simple, plain walls are never a good attraction.
Either fill them with fancy cupboards or adorn them with wallpaper. Or why not give your kids a chance to make some graffiti on their walls? The options are plenty!!
This kind of bedroom cum study will provide the perfect ambience your kids search for. The decor used is simple, saving the room from a sombre look.
Space is another important thing to be noted. Often we stuff our rooms with all the latest gadgets and fancy items to make the room look more attractive. But the fact is, the more things you have around you, the more is the distraction. Don't you feel like playing with that rubik's cube or that tantalizing video games? Once distracted it is hard to get back that focus. So the best thing is to have them concealed in the closet.
3. For the busy office goers:
Its a different scene altogether for an office goer. There is always a storm inside an office goer's head. The agenda of the meetings to be conducted, the people who have to be reached for the meeting, the project details to be submitted and the list goes on. An organised study area can make your life easier.
Large cupboards can be fitted into the walls where there is a space constraint. The more the divisions in the cupboard, the easier it is to locate the files and documents. And, as it is with any other study area, the look too should be given a thought. Remember, making it official and formal does not mean it has a boring and complex look. Never hesitate to play with colours. Afterall, it's your room - your rules.
The bold red cupboard is combined with milky white table and chair giving a stunning depth and definition to the area. The potted plants near the giant windows is a soothing, refreshing view to turn to.
