Product Barons Tweet 1 Comment(s)
Geetanjali Kasliwal , a fervent connoisseur of traditional Indian culture and admirer of beautiful things in and around the nature was drooled over by the craftsmanship of artisans. What could have been a better idea than blending the passion with the mission? This was the concept behind the beginning of Anantaya.
Anantaya brims with exotic décor accents which seem to have traveled through time and space and yet appear to have preserved their luster and magnificence! From lamps to mirrors, opulent desk accessories to exquisite table accents, Anantaya is packed with timeless accents. This evergreen store was jointly established by Ayush and Geetanjali Kasliwal.
In a one-on-one chat, this dynamic duo shared with us their passion, vision and love for the global arts and crafts which manifests itself in the stunning products they design.
Describe Anantaya for us...
Anantaya is a multidisciplinary design studio specializing in arts and crafts with a number of projects in a variety of disciplines. I am the Managing Director and co-founder and being from an architectural background and having worked with crafts since past five years, I developed the love for design. My Husband Ayush, the co-founder is a graduate from NID Ahmedabad. As both of us were passionate about design and art since the beginning, we came up with this brilliant idea. The core products include age old crafts which are timeless and sustainable.
Where did the inspiration come from?
Love of beautiful things and passionate mission of employing various artisans across the globe encouraged us to get into this business. Directly or indirectly all we ever wanted was to employ as many as artisans as we can.
What does your product line look like?
The product line includes Home décor, lighting, accessories, cushions. Every season sees something new, every week witnesses something new- new products come out every now and then but all are timeless.
Then there are the table accents including centerpieces exhibiting luminescence- a new concept where the fragrance emanates from the light itself.
Then there are the exotic paper lamps which are designed using the Tazia craft, which is extensively practiced by Muslim artisans across the globe.
These lamps are multifunctional. You can put them on the floor or hang them down the ceiling.
What makes your products stand out amid other
Anantaya products are all about originality and luxury. We sell Timeless products, each one blends with any time. Each décor object is multipurpose and functional, young and modern and has an edge.
What’s your product’s USP?
The USP lies in leveraging the traditional skills- of the artisans. India has a huge base of artisans with excellent craftsmanship and if we are not going to support it right now, we are going to lose our USP.Each product represents not only the craft practice but also an entire ecosystem of a culture which is unique to its’ geographical area and to the community of makers who have worked there for a long time. The products are beautiful and they sustain artisan’s livelihoods; qualities that are relevant today If we lose a craft, we will lose an irreplaceable part of our culture. The USP is how the artisans’ creations integrate into contemporary life.
