In 2009, Shilpa Architects acquired SGBL Studio, an international Architecture and Urban Design firm, with offices in Chicago, New York and Seoul. This company has executed projects in the US, Belgium, Norway, China, Japan and Kuwait. 

The firm is acclaimed for pioneering concepts like Incremental Housing (1987), “Bunglow Apartments” (1992), Rain Water Harvesting in buildings (1993) long before it became a mandatory practice in India, Holistic Sustainability (2011) - all rooted to the fundamental concepts of Indo-centric approach to design.
