20th August 2015, New Delhi: To accomplish the mission of building 100 Smart cities in the country, as proposed by the Govt. of India, Nispana Innovative Platforms has identified the necessity to host a conference on ‘Sustainable Smart Cities India’ on the 3rd and 4th of September 2015. The two-day conference at Vivanta by Taj, Bengaluru, will aim to bring the government, private and public sectors together under one roof for a high level summit of discussion, debate and business opportunities. The theme ‘Transforming Indian cities towards a sustainable and smart future’ cannot get more suitable for the conference.
The rapid urbanization India is currently facing relates to an expectation in the urban population to increase by more than 400 million people by 2050. It is important to also realize that in the next 15 years, the urban population will contribute nearly 75% to the country’s GDP and the average age of the same will be 29 years by 2020, with a strong youth workforce. The aggressive efforts in executing the vision of setting up 100 Smart Cities is transparent through the approval (29th April 2015) of spending about INR 1 lakh crore by the cabinet for the same. This is carried out through two new missions- Smart Cities Mission and the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) of 500 cities with outlays of Rs. 48,000 crore and Rs. 50,000 crore respectively. The preservation of our traditional architecture, culture and ethnicity also shall take place through this mission.
The challenges in achieving this shall include devising a fool-proof plan to develop smart cities, increasing renewable energy, meaningful public-private partnerships, water supply, effective waste management, traffic management, meeting power demand, urban mobility, ICT connectivity, e-governance, etc while preparing for new threats that can emerge with the implementation of these new

- Comprehend the viability of building smart cities from existing unplanned cities
- Identify ways to retail tradition and culture while developing futuristic cities
- Learn from international case studies
- Gain knowledge on the available technologies
- Meet and network with the experts and government authorities, corporate majors to forge new partnerships
- Take away sensible, tangible and actionable conclusions
