Tropical outdoors - An enchanting sceneBy Smitha Jose
Outdoors Tweet 0 Comment(s)
In the last article we saw how tropical indoors are created, keeping nature as the focal point. Raw wood or bamboo and fresh green are what one can smell in tropical interiors. While interiors are kept this close to nature by adding rawness, the outdoors are used in a way that gives you the pleasure of interiors in the lap of nature. Let’s have a look at some of the outdoor spaces that are creatively turned into indoor settings.
A swimming pool can be a common place for many of the villas we have seen. But you can definitely figure out the difference between those and the one shown below. The need to completely indulge in nature is what inspires such a design. The pool is divided into four sections with aisles running across that meet at the centre to form a gazebo.
Have a good swim, spend some lazy time with your book or plan an outdoor breakfast - the place is just perfect for any of your weekend plans.
A typical patio is paved with either concrete or stone that serves excellent outdoor space for dining. The tropical designing just makes it exemplary with good quality bamboo or wicker furniture that matches with the look of palm trees that grows abundantly in those regions.
Woven furniture are the trademarks of a tropical setting. The patio shown above is furnished with fine bamboo chairs and coffee table. Bamboo is now one of the materials used for furniture that has influenced and inspired people across the seas to go tropical.
I think most of us, no matter in which corner of the world we live in, have already started to go tropical with the terrace designs. The terrace is no more left barren but changed into a garden with exotic colourful plants lining the borders . And with such a pleasant weather outdoors, terraces are often places people would love to spend their tea time. To provide such beautiful moments, terraces are usually furnished with sleek furniture like a wooden banquet arrangement shown below. To compliment with the raw woody décor, either soft neutral shades or bright shades inspired by the nature are used for the cushions.
Size really does not matter if you wish to turn tropical with your balconies. A few basic elements will be sufficient in getting that rustic and fresh tropical look. The floors in the balconies are usually of wood (infact, most of the flooring in tropical inspired houses are done in wood). Secondly, no matter how tiny the space is, tropical design cannot survive without green (either potted or otherwise). Then comes the furniture. As mentioned earlier woven bamboo or wicker definitely finds a place outdoor if not the indoors. Metal is sparingly used, mainly to give a sturdy support to these delicately woven décor.
One thing that these tropical designs teach us, or should we say ‘reveal’, is that no matter how modern we get with time, there is nothing that can beat the serenity and abundance the nature showers upon us.
