The brief was to establish a restaurant and an urban bar. The site proved difficult to start. The site proved difficult to start because of 25-0 of black cotton soil lay below the surface. Natures best cotton growing substrate behaved like chewing gum under a steam roller. We excavated about 8-0; then stacked rock for 5-0. Tremix tied both ways was finished with black sandstone. Mellow and mature, our design response went about articulating a multi-zoned space that was accessible, atmospheric and moody, yet true to purpose with drinking, eating and socialising placed at the centre. The indoor Lounge lets one have intimate gatherings with a dedicated bar catering. The Palm Grove Restaurant with its understated outdoor charm keeps you connected to the rest of the place and isolates you at the same time.
