Spanning two floors, ground floor & basement the project was a challenging undertaking, but its realisation is the embodiment of tastefulness and refinement. I was completely focussed to give it a very modern & contemporary feel to it but it had to be with large doses of luxury thrown into it. The client was adventurous enough to approve the raw concrete look merged with walnut brown (wood finish), internally & externally both, making it a complete amalgamation of interiors & exteriors. So we carefully combined shot blasted Gwalior stone & polished concrete with veneer panelling & out of large buffet of finishes. Moving indoors, a large metallic & blown glass chandelier which embodies the logo of the brand greets the costumers. Jaali partitions break up the expansive space, made of Gwalior stone with a sensual subtlety that may not be seen as antique and rustic. A classic flamboyance runs through the elements making up the space, a neutral and monochromatic colour palette, exuberant metallic finishes are all signs of modern yet classic decency the space observes. Also, the way the staircase moves down reflects the class the store exudes as well as the brand demand. Brand values and status can be seen in such minor gestures and they create the charm of the place. The lacquered glass panels and walnut brown finishes contribute in a big way to rendering the character of the space but the signature gunmetallic finish is the master of all finishes. A non-formal seating arrangement relaxes the customer assuring him that he can take his time to try it all. The warmth given by the curtains is also an added comfort. Polished Italian marble is a key feature of the store demarcating the sections. The fitting rooms are smartly decked out, with heavy, hand tufted carpets and a luxurious fabric panelling. The entire lighting design uses LED lighting only, and is an example of the growing trend in retail LED use. The store is populated by furniture made from sleek metals, and deep woods, with masculine in feel and a particular concentration on luxury throughout the store.
