IBIZA Resort , Hospitality-Bar & Pub

A hospitality project expressing a colonial contemporary theme is a sprawling resort in Kolkata’s high density urbanity. This resort is a minimalistic reinterpretation of a Spanish colonial style around a tropical water body, a contemporary re-imagining of the haciendas of the Philippines. A collaborative effort between the architects, the landscape architects, lighting consultants, interior designers and significant client input (Merlin Resorts) – the master plan design comes with a hotel block, villas, a lobby, a banquet, stand alone bars and a spa.

The villas themselves confirm to the modern tropical language, a modification of the ‘Bangla- Bari’ or bungalows of yore. The hotel had a double vaulted ceiling at the arrival and 16 rooms on each floor facing the water body. The arched walkway, slatted louvers and minimalistic iron railings reinterpret the colonial look.
