The renovation of The Humming Tree interior keeps with the existing industrial aesthetic of the original design and builds on it to create a cozy, brick and metal clad music venue and restaurant. The existing bar and stage were relocated and enlarged to expand the capacity of the venue and a green room was added to allow for diverse programing and events. The bar, clad in raw reclaimed wood is subtly illuminated by exposed bulbs casually hung from above. A metal mesh double-sided shelving system provides a layered backdrop of multicolored bottles and provided filtered views to the Liquor Storage beyond. Multiple seating niches and banquettes were added to create flexible and unique spaces for dining and viewing during events.

On the upper level, the existing roof terrace was completely reinvented transforming what was once a dark cluttered space into a bright and open “greenhouse”. A translucent canopy covers a small bar and casual seating which spills out onto an open terrace with beautiful views of the neighboring tree city and tree canopy. A palette of exposed brick and raw concrete are offset by numerous planters and the warm tones of the wood bar and seating.
