Design Plus
Gurgaon, Haryana, India-122002 Members Bar, Noida, Hospitality-Bar & Pub
Project Status: CompletedThe Member’s Bar is Design Plus’ take on a 21st century Tavern.
The existing bar had a limited patronage, both in terms of number of patrons and a high number defining the average age group. The brief required us to reinvent the premise in a way that will increase the footfall but decrease the average age of its patrons.
Since, the term ‘tavern’ was often used during initial client discussions, the studio decided to break a tavern down to its Lowest Common denominator – Material and texture. Although, there was immediate and unanimous agreement, on Wood + Brick + Leather, between the clients and the design team, the vision for the bar was equally blurry.
The regimented atmosphere of sofa sets was broken down by sweeping furniture that provided more average seating space per person than a conventional single seater sofa.
The Geometry created alcoves that could support seating groups from 4-8 people. Also it allowed for private conversations to larger congregations on cricket and politics.
The entire geometry of back panels, false ceiling, sofa seating was divided into modules of 2.5’. Design Plus decided to use the agreed materials on a sinuous geometry that would eliminate the junctions between Seating-Wall and Wall-Ceiling. The extension of the Bar counter also borrowed its design style from the prevalent geometry.
