Gurgaon, Haryana, India-122002 Tatasthu, Residential-Single family dwelling
Project Status: CompletedThe Tapering corner plot offered spatial constraints. With the location of the kitchen and Master bedroom being frozen by clients, our endeavour was to maximize the views of the park in the North. Hence, the Conversation Room, Formal Drawing, Kids Rooms and the Terrace Jacuzzi all overlook the park.
The problem with small family-large residence is that different sections of the house get neglected unless brought under frequent need-based utility cycle. To ensure maximum utility of all floors, the privacy of the House increases as we rise vertically.
With 4 out of 5 Bedrooms on Second and Third Floor; the dining and Kitchen provided on the First floor, there is constant need-based traversing. This travel through the elegant Burma Teak staircase or the strategically located elevator guarantees reduction of redundancy of floor space.
In addition the entertainment zone (AV Room, Billiards Room, Conversation/Library Room) are all made available on the ground Floor. Hence, programmatically the House is designed to cater to the daily lifestyle of a family of 5.
The careful details of natural hard wood from external cladding (IPE) to internal flooring (Burma Teak) to 8’ high doors and frames (Burma Teak) etc., not only bind the house materially, but also add warmth to the abode.
Natural light is treated as a material for the residence. Skylights and clearstories provide diffused natural light throughout the day. All large common spaces can divide themselves in smaller pockets by drawing cloth partitions.
