Gurgaon, Haryana, India-122001 |Practicing since: Oct. 15, 2015 Shantiniketan Residence Lounge - New Delhi, Residential-Single family dwelling
Framed in steel, caped in brick/wood/glass and adorned with modern decor, the residential lounge stands as a double height space, making a chic statement. The owner had a vision of a recreational space that will cater to different activities like sitting, party, dining/kitchen, library and guest rooms. The lounge was designed as a double height space over the existing terrace. The terrace offered a splendid view of the densely vegetated park of Shanti Niketan. The periphery was thus designed to be glazed with UPVC and glass to maximize this view.A sloping roof was proposed along with gables to allow ample light.
The lounge is divided in two levels. The lower level is a double height space catering to the sitting, dining/kitchen and guest rooms. While the 2nd level is a mezzanine approached through a modern staircase and houses the study, library and reading area.An envelope of mild steel work all around the terrace supports the glazing and the sloping roof. Abiding with the emerging style of no-cosmetic interior treatment, the design of the Shanti Niketan residence lounge took up and stood to the challenge of morphing exposed brick & steel into an opulent space and elegant design.

FINDING CHARM IN RAW TEXTURES
The design rids itself of the dogma of cosmetic application which masks the errors in finished work.It is the errors & anomalies which help define a space
