A task of designing a building involves not just putting spaces together & placing it on the site. A building design is a long process in which list of activities is made; there the relation between the activities is determined to grow exactly where they should be placed & finally its location on site is strategically placed. Simultaneously its form is decided. Such is a process that was taken to achieve a building with form which is curved in slope. The form of the building is such that, from where ever one views its form look iconic. The building after the entrance is divided into two zones. One is recreational and second is entertainment. The entertainment zone has all indoor games activities like Badminton, T.T., Squash court, Cards, video games, parlor. The recreation zone carries the restaurant, bar, dance floor. Along a sculptural staircase leads us to the gymnasium, 3D theatre, SPA. The third zone which has a separate entrance through the pre-function is of banquet room & guest room on the first floor. The form of the building converges at a single point which is a performance stage with a 12,000 sq.ft. Swimming pool. The site can be divided or be used as a one for pool side parties. Site for the project is nestled in the beautiful setting of 400 acres of land parcel, 30 kms away from the city core. The 5 Acre parcel of land identified for the club building calls for a wide array of activities to satisfy the ever-growing requirement of people of Nagpur for places of recreating, entertainment and social engagements, which as in any context is the outcome of the climate & cultural contexts of the City. The Client intended to satisfy the hunger of the people in Nagpur for recreation and entertainment by executing a structure which is a basket full of Indoor sporting and games activities, Health and wellness zone, Restaurant, Banquets and 3-Dimensional theaters. The clients didnt intend for a imposing structure as huge parcel of land is available with them. The structure envisioned for the club is a low profile, ground hugging structure and to incorporate innumerable activities the structure grew horizontally at the site. A crescent shape is envisioned for the club as the shape allows for slow unfolding of elements thereby evoking a pleasureful denial & reward feel. The horizontality of the structure is made sober by infusing vertical fins at the separate entrances in the front and for the spill out spaces at the rear. The various activities after the main entrance are divided in two zones i.e. Indoor Sports & Entertainment. First floor houses Gymnasium, SPA & 3-Dimenional theater and is accessed by a sculptural serpentine staircase. A separate entrance to the structure is planned for the Banquet Hall at the ground floor and Guest Rooms at the First Floor. The Banquet hall opens up on two sides to be integrated with the outdoor spaces fro various banqueting permutations & combinations and thereby advocating a greater flexibility in the functioning of the Banquet. The crescent shape of the structure at the rear converges to a ramp and performance stage over a 12000 sq.ft of the swimming pool. The rear open space with pool side cabana seating is planned to host pool side parties and social gatherings. The eating spaces i.e. Restaurant and cafeteria are planned with seamless transition of Indoor and outdoor eating. The front of the structure primarily houses the service areas and less important areas. The important activities are pushed to the rear of the structure where an unobstructed view of pool, ramp and greenery is experienced.
