Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India-201301 |Practicing since: April 10, 2007 Shwet Villa Gurugram, Residential-Single family dwelling
The requirement of remodeling an existing villa within a township of a developer of repute to reflect the aspirations of the future inhabitants was the initial brief. The client, well-travelled, well-read, aware and sensitive were staying in an upmarket residential development and had understood the hairline gap between luxury living and luxury living with elegance. Luxury with elegance although a subjective matter; was accorded well with the client through the understanding of integrating Scandinavian/Mediterranean neoclassical theme of design. Shwet (white in hindi) was identified as the binding colour; supporting the Scandinavian theme and is also synonymous with Elegance & Purity. A family of three and frequent guests formed the main space along with a family of domestic help. The villa is layered at four levels where ground level caters to a formal drawing, kitchen, dining and guest areas. A cutout in the slab near the formal drawing room amplifies the visual connectivity between the ground floor and first floor living areas. The first floor has a master bedroom, and a family lounge, the second floor advocates another bedroom and a guest room along with open terrace. The basement is primarily a living room along with a open study area. The basement also comprises of an apartment to a family of domestic help which is well lit and ventilated. A front and rear lawn ensures view to greenery from ground floor and ensures seamless continuity from the ground floor. The open floor plan at ground floor and first floor act as horizontal light ducts and all the spaces are naturally lit. The natural lighting is further amplified by the reflection from the white materials in the interiors.
