As a result of Hong Kongs new 4/4/3 education structure, City University of Hong Kong required a new academic building. Four key principles drove RLPs design solution for the building: the need to maintain a level green deck across the sloping site; the activation of circulation spaces; embedding sustainable design against the backdrop of Lion Rock; and lifting the ground plane to enhance permeability at street level.
