Zique, a unisex Salon and Spa brand launched its flagship store in Chennai, raising the bar in the Beauty and Lifestyle business!  Located in Chetpet - an up market locale and a prime location, it is home to discerning clients such as businessmen, women and progressive youth. Zique realises that style is a constant evolution hence being one-of-a-kind is integral to this notion, right from the brand name 'Zique', to the tagline 'Beyond Unique'. 

Its luxurious, style-infused, exotic interiors paired with exclusive services and world-class quality adds an aspirational value and inspires one to stand-out-from-the-crowd. The design of the salon is a function of the overall effect of the salon – OVERSIZED! By having strategies to maximize the double height of the space – the salon is located on the ground floor and a glass encased spa on the mezannine floor. Metallic gold accents have been thoughtfully added into the space as far as possible – right from the oversized mirrors to the smaller details and purse holders for individual client comfort. The addition of a unique kids friendly area, with specialists who focus on haircuts for kids is a special feature of Zique.

All design elements have been uniquely customized for Zique, right from the mirror detailed reception table to the oversized door, which has moulded masks that glow from the lighting within the salon. Located in a prime location in Chetpet, the salon has a great tree covered parking area and glistens with its moving gold sequined dynamic façade which is easily spotted from anywhere along the busy main road.

Being different evokes trends and Zique lends this exceptional factor to its clients. It will create trendsetters across all ages and expand its horizons to promote the message of evolutionary style, across India and the world.

Zique (pronounced Zi:k) is a truly unique name and was formulated keeping in mind new-age formats wherein the tonality is crisp, stylish and distinctive.The choice of Z was purposefully done to evoke a sense of space that is different, premium. Names/ words usually starting with Z is rare and often used in context to luxury, different and high-profile statements.  'Que' with strains of classic french language is used as a suffix (musique/ mystique) and has an edgy-chic ring to it.

Keeping in mind the salon space of 2400 square feet that is plush, stylish and offers services that will redefine beauty and styling in the city the founder wanted to bring in a unisex design theme and name that is strong yet alluring. Inspired by this thought the mandarin word Zi meaning beauty and grace which is often added to other alphabets to create a whole meaning and combined Zi with the word Unique creating Zique. The vast offering includes services like body massage, scrubs, foot spas, facials, haircuts, colours, straightening, bridal service and a lot more. 

Design Highlights:
The founders were looking for a new magnificent design that was never seen in Chennai to showcase “uber luxury” from the time the clients walked in. 

The canvas was a corner 2400 sq ft area in a multi-office building nestled beside the bustling Harrington Road in Chetpet. “Our mission was to build something magical and funky, that every visitor interacts with.. to engage all the senses and create a rich experience”, says Pavitra Sriprakash, Chief Designer, Stone Lotus. 

The Door has been specifically fabricated with translucent glitter faces. They double up as the “door handles” as the clients have to touch the face to push the door and get into the saloon.  

The exterior façade beside the door is fitted with shimmering metal that moves & makes a sound with the breeze.  This dynamic façade changes its character with the lighting and weather.

As the client walks into the Salon, the double height space with specialized lighting, that is magnified and connected by mirrored spaces, make the place glamorous.  Metallic and translucent elements accented with white provide the feeling of lavishness and royalty. 

Lighting is done by adding the “Luxe” element to the various specifications needed by the stylists and the international brand. 

The spa rooms and specialized service areas are in the mezzanine, which provides a serene space for clients to experience their chosen treatments.

The steps to the mezzanine is constructed with mirror and glass, which is carefully lit to enhance the clients’ experience. 

A special feature is the kid’s room, where playful lighting and comfortable chairs ensure a smooth experience for the youngest clients. 

The reception area and table encases styling scissors in a glass lit table to showcase some of the equipment used by the stylists!
