Studio KIA
Gurgaon, Haryana, India-122001 District Headquarters, Margao - Goa, Commercial-Office Complex
A project to function as a landmark platform for the district, a head office for the collectorate that doubles up and defines the whole city, district and country. Located majestically along the NH-17, the project innovates and explores elements rooted in the cultural milieu. Rising in all magnanimity with a humane touch and fine detailing, this seat of power is an iconic building enhancing the vision and grandeur of the place. It is a built form developed with the people and for the people of Goa. The vision was to create a one- of- its- kind model in the country which each state would want to emulate. The design brief highlighted on developing a system of paper less work in a typical government office and have an I.T enabled building with a computer at every desk. The imposing domes, the extravagant porches, grand steps and coloured vertical glazing elevate the existing stature and grandeur of the built form. The coloured glazing which is contemporary in design yet vernacular in appeal is an emulation of the stained glass windows which can be seen all over Goa. A serious emphasis is laid to reinterpret Goa's vernacular architecture language by overlaying it with Portuguese Urbanism.
